Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: I'm So Beautiful!

Meanwhile, Robin arrived at her "new home" with a mix of apprehension and excitement.

It was another residential complex, but far more luxurious than her previous residence at Tianming Residential Complex. Lush greenery and vegetation dotted the landscape, and each building towered twenty to thirty stories high, appearing brand new as if recently completed.

The Bureau of Anomalous Investigations agent escorting her explained, "This complex has actually been finished for some time. But as you know, Dimensional Rift incidents have become increasingly frequent, and disasters are erupting across the country. Young people were already reluctant to buy property, and now that the population has dwindled, these apartments are even harder to sell."

"So the government took over the complex. Rather than let it sit empty, they decided to use it as temporary housing for disaster survivors."

"Captain has assigned you to Unit 1501. A girl named Hou Menglin lived there a month ago, but after the Dimensional Rift incident near her home subsided, she returned there. The apartment is fully furnished and ready for you to move in."

The elevator ascended slowly, Robin 's head bowed, her verdant eyes fixed on her toes. She was still grappling with the identity issue. Should she simply come clean?

But how could she explain her origins?

Invent another lie? But one lie would inevitably require more lies to maintain.

Just as Robin was lost in thought, the elevator chimed softly as it reached the fifteenth floor. The Bureau of Anomalous Investigations officer led her to a door and handed her a key.

"Almost forgot," he said, slapping his forehead. "There's also this."

He pulled out a brand-new smartphone and a wallet. "The Captain instructed me to give these to you. He also asked me to pass on a message: 'These were Qin Chuming's personal effects. You'll probably find them useful.'"

"Uh... okay." As Robin accepted the items, she noticed the phone's pristine condition. It had no case, and the screen was flawless, without a single bubble or crack.

After completing their task, the Bureau of Anomalous Investigations personnel naturally departed. Robin swiftly unlocked the security door and entered apartment 1501, immediately turning her attention to the new smartphone.

To her surprise, the phone didn't even have a screen lock. Removing her silk gloves, Robin gently swiped her index finger across the display, carefully examining its features. She quickly confirmed it was indeed a brand-new device.

Next, she opened the wallet. Inside, she found only a bank card and a small slip of paper with a string of numbers. Without hesitation, she assumed this was likely the card's PIN.

"Qin Chuming's personal belongings... You'll find them useful..." Robin murmured to herself, realizing that the agent's parting words should be interpreted in two parts.

First, if they had given her Qin Chuming's actual phone, she wouldn't have known the password and wouldn't have been able to use it. Yet they specifically said "Qin Chuming's personal belongings" and handed her a brand-new phone.

Didn't that imply they knew she couldn't access Qin Chuming's real phone?

As for the second part—"You'll find them useful"—coupled with the new phone and bank card, it was clearly a gesture of goodwill, an attempt to curry favor.

In summary, Captain Zhong Wanhong likely meant, "I know you're not Qin Chuming anymore, but I still hope we can maintain a friendly relationship."

"Whew—" Robin couldn't help but exhale in relief. The outcome surprised her, yet wasn't entirely unexpected. After all, she was just an ordinary person, not a professional actor. It would have been nearly impossible to convincingly impersonate someone she knew nothing about without being discovered.

Especially since she hadn't had any time to prepare. She had barely landed after transmigrating when she encountered the authorities. Looking back, it was no wonder they had seen through her act so easily.

Regardless, this was good news for Robin. She temporarily placed her phone and wallet on the empty shoe rack beside her.

Kneeling, she gently brushed her pale calves with her hands, undid the black straps around her ankles, and slowly removed her high heels. Her toes, painted with cyan nail polish, emerged into the air. Her delicate feet, like the world's most exquisite works of art, were pure, tender, and as pristine as jade.

"As expected of Mihoyo," Robin thought. Nail polish on her fingers and toes was perfectly normal; she was certain these feet would satisfy ninety-nine percent of foot fetishists.

Jade feet... how exquisite, she mused.

But alas, they're mine.

Stepping barefoot onto the cool tiles, Robin savored the long-forgotten sensation of her heels making contact with the ground. A wave of relief washed over her. "High heels are exhausting," she muttered to herself. "I can't imagine wearing them all day. Doesn't it hurt?"

Recalling the soft touch of her fingers on her calves moments earlier, Robin's cheeks flushed slightly. She padded barefoot to the nearby bathroom, where a full-length mirror greeted her. This was the first time she had seen her current appearance since her transmigration.

Having thoroughly investigated the System, it was time to examine her new body.

Her lush green eyes sparkled like emeralds, their slightly downturned corners giving her an air of gentle warmth. Her soft, light-blue hair flowed like silk, its texture finer than any she had ever felt. Robin lightly ran her fingers through a strand beside her cheek, marveling at its ethereal softness.

As if sensing her "master's" emotions, the pair of white wings behind her ears fluttered gently twice.

Robin felt no discomfort with these phantom limbs that had materialized out of thin air. Just as humans are born with the innate ability to control their arms and legs, she could perfectly manipulate these wings without the slightest awkwardness.

Her gaze drifted downward, settling on her slightly rounded chest. While not overwhelmingly large, it was certainly not small. She placed her hands on the hem of her skirt and slowly lifted it.

Beneath the white fabric, her thighs emerged like freshly unearthed lotus roots—plump and rounded. Below her knees, her calves tapered into slender, straight lines. Bathed in the sliver of sunlight streaming through the bathroom window, her already fair skin glowed even more radiantly, shimmering with a milky luster and an icy crystalline sheen.

Robin couldn't help but swallow hard. "... I'm truly beautiful..."
