Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Encounter with Silk

Since Connors' apartment had no women's clothes, Harley joined him the next day wearing men's attire.

Dressed in simple jeans and a white shirt, Harley Quinn looked incredibly capable. The only issue was the oversized shirt. With nothing underneath, it wobbled when she walked, making Connors uneasy.

Thus, "noon" became a verb. By the time they officially left, it was almost midday. Connors expected their first joint venture with Harley Quinn to be trouble-making.

Whether Harley Quinn sought revenge on the Joker or to experience superhero "gossip" himself, it was within his expectations. Yet, unexpectedly, their first activity was clothes shopping.

With Connors' subtle guidance, Harley Quinn tried on black stockings, shorts, and tight T-shirts. Her striking figure drew frequent attention from passers-by on the street.

Connors shifted his gaze from the black-stockinged legs and mentally selected "No" on his system.

He was about to drive the unlucky owner's car from last night to Arkham Asylum when his Spider-Sense suddenly blared a warning.

No, this was not a warning…

His Spider-Sense transmitted information instinctively and quickly. Unlike the danger warning he received when Batman stared at him, this Spider-Sense conveyed a different message: an attraction.

"Get in!"

Connors opened the car door and jumped inside. Harley Quinn was quick, agilely sliding in through the passenger window.

"Paddy, are we starting a big fight? I know where we can get some heavy firearms!"

Harley Quinn sat in the passenger seat, excited. If it were a convertible, she would have stood up without hesitation.

Instead, she half-reclined, her long, black-stockinged legs resting on the windshield.

"Can you get them?"

Amidst the engine's roar, the car sped onto the road, exhaust trailing. Connors held the steering wheel with one hand and looked at Harley Quinn curiously.

"Yes, the Joker escaped Arkham because I got him guns and explosives, but he abandoned me… Paddy, you're going the wrong way."

Connors nodded, understanding how the Joker escaped Arkham. He ignored Harley's comment about the wrong route and her calling him with a strange name.

He was not heading to Arkham Asylum or for guns but pursuing the unknown attraction his Spider-Sense indicated.

Whoosh!

He observed carefully, spotting an agile figure moving between high-rise buildings—the source of his Spider-Sense's attraction.

"Oh! Paddy, are you chasing that guy?"

Harley also noticed the figure in the sky, instantly forgetting about getting guns. She leaned halfway out the open car window and yelled at the red and black agile figure in the sky:

"Wow! Oh! Oh! Oh!"

She did not know the other person or the reason for the chase. She was simply overwhelmed by the thrill of Connors' accelerating speed and screamed instinctively.

Whack!

Connors slapped Harley's backside, making her return to her seat. He then pressed the accelerator.

Soon, before they caught the figure, the Gotham police, sirens blaring, pursued Connors for ignoring traffic rules and speeding.

"We'll split up later. I'll go after that guy, and you try to create some chaos. Be careful not to get caught."

After passing several intersections, Connors parked the car in a roadside parking space, pretending he had not been speeding. He spoke to Harley Quinn in the passenger seat.

He knew that even though the current Harley Quinn had not yet undergone her full transformation and her physical abilities were like any ordinary person, she was an expert in criminal psychology.

A few police officers would not be a problem for her.

"What about you? Are you going to abandon me like the Joker?" Harley Quinn said dramatically.

"You know where I live. Let's meet on the rooftop there," Connors laughed, opening his car door and leaving first.

For a wild beauty like Harley Quinn, coaxing was useless; she was no delicate little girl.

Although he did not go to Arkham Asylum, Connors' goal of being a bystander was achieved because the police were now chasing him.

Harley Quinn went to create chaos, and while "eating gossip," he chased the figure in the sky. Even if she was just an ordinary girl, "Harley Quinn wreaking havoc on the streets of Gotham" was better than nothing.

He could not expect her to carry a baseball bat and challenge Batman to a duel, could he?

Harley Quinn wanted to follow Connors to chase the mysterious figure, but the situation prevented them from acting together. She turned around and sat in the driver's seat.

The sirens and car sounds gradually faded. Connors looked up and found the mysterious figure had vanished, but his Spider-Sense still tingled.

He looked left and right, then leaped onto the outer wall stairs of a building and quickly climbed.

Climbing stairs was nothing for him. He reached the rooftop in no time, but no one was there.

"Strange, the Spider-Sense clearly indicates someone here…"

Connors wondered for a moment, then his ankles tightened, and he hung upside down in the air.

It was bad; he was careless!

His heart clenched. Before he could move, his hands were tied, leaving him no escape.

Even so, his Spider-Sense gave no danger warning. Connors wondered if it was malfunctioning.

However, soon, when a woman wearing red, gray, and white tights with the lower half of her face covered by a red mask appeared, Connors understood.

Shoulder-length hair, spiderweb patterns on the tights, a proud figure hidden underneath, a red mask… These features were not unfamiliar to Connors; they were quite familiar:

"Spider-Silk" Cindy Moon!

The moment he saw her, he understood why his Spider-Sense had not given a danger warning.

It was not a malfunction. She had no ill intentions. He had Spider-Sense, and Cindy also had it. This ability attracted them to each other like magnets.

In the comics, due to "Spider-Sense," sparks flew when Silk and Spider-Man met.

"Hi…"

Connors tried to say hello, but the soft lips under the Spider-Silk mask blocked his mouth before he could finish.

"!!!"

Was it this exciting from the start?! The comics never lied!

He opened his eyes wide and looked at Spider-Silk's face, close to his. Unlike Harley Quinn's wild beauty, Cindy had black hair and black eyes, full of classical grace.
