Chapter 5 - Osgar Village: putting him in his place

Raven POV

I growled loudly in response and the whole place went quiet as Selene suddenly laughed.

"That must have been quite a scare of the century" she said and Cole laughed with her.

"I could imagine the poor beast running for it's dear life after that. This is a first" he said and I found myself smiling as I downed the rest of my rabbit stew and took out the book.

I read and read for an hour or so before I knew I could now continue on my way, I still had a long way to go anyway.

"I have to go" I spake up before I stood to my full height of 5'8. Tall for a woman.

"Could we tag along?" Selene asked after they gave each other a look and after mulling over it a bit, I reluctantly gave a nod and their eyes lit up with excitement.

"I will be fast, I expect you to keep up" I informed before stepping out of the cave and glancing to the side to find on the grass was the beast python from last night's battle.

It was called a Pithiln, a really amazing name for a snake with two head and three eyes. It's weakness was that it wasn't fast and the underbelly was it's weak point, it was tender and easy to destroy while it upper body was hard as rock.

I walked for a long time with them following and keeping up, cracking jokes in between and surprisingly, no beast had popped up.

Soon, we began to hear sounds of people talking and I gave them a look.

"that must be Osgar Village, one of the wolf villages out in this forests." Cole informed and I gave a nod of affirmation.

We slowly pulled apart some rose bushes to find that we came out in front of a small wall that went far into forest in each sides and before us stood a small open gate with five people there, three men and two women laughing and chatting.

"Let's try getting a place to stay here"I suggested after a glance at the map to know we were going in the right direction.

They both nodded their accent and we left the rose bushes behind, entering into the open space between the forests and the gates.

We walked down to the gates and as soon as the people there saw us coming, they stood straight and began to surround us with curiosity and apprehension. Nice.

"We mean no harm" I began and one of them laughed, much to my annoyance.

"Who are you people?" the middle aged woman asked with a glare at the brown haired guy.

"I'm called Raven, this is Cole and Selene. we seek a place to rest safely for the night before we continue on our way. We're in search of a treasure known to be lost". I responded and Cole and Selene did not even twitch at my blatant lie.

"You're wanderers but not rogues, a rare sight. let them through for the night and early hours of the morning. Jane take them" she ordered and they all stood down.

"Come with me" the Jane girl mumbled and I nodded with a grateful look at the woman before we walked away, inside of this walls was a sight to behold.

A market bustled loudly by the left and to the right stood small but sturdy looking houses and tall buildings that looked really good.

Vines of different kinds surrounded the whole place as though it was something out of a fairytale and wolf cubs ran around the place playing with each other.

It was like nothing I had ever seen in all-- since yesterday I guessed.

"This is an inn, the owner will take only five coins for the night and not more than that or she will be scamming you" Jane informed before she walked away.

"You guys have five coins?" I asked and Cole nodded with a smirk as we walked into the open place and laughter filled my ears.

People drank and laughed, waiter's seducing the patrons into buying drinks or tipping them. it was more of a club than an inn and for a minute, I missed my house and my bed. it was not much after being taken as the evil doer in the family but it helped get me through the night.

"A room for three Please" Selene smiled at the woman at the counter by our right and she gave us an appraising look.

"That would be seven copper coins" She suddenly smiled and I forced on a sweet smile.

"You meant to say five coins right?" I glared at here through the smile and she gave me a stink eyes before she nodded.

"Mistake, five coins will get you the room. Take them to the room boy" she glared at me with dislike and I smiled as a small kid rushed out and led us away from the counter and towards the stairs.

"Sorry about ma" he whispered and I nodded when someone grabbed at my ass from behind and my body moved on autopilot, spinning fast and grabbing the hand before flipping the bastard and slamming them into the ground hard.

A groan filled my ears as silence reined and I stood up to find a young man on the ground groaning in pains as he clutched at his waist.

"Wow" came from the kid as I bent to the bastard's height and got into his face.

"Try that again and I'll break every single last one of your bones and make certain you regret the day you were brought into this realm" I threatened with a low growl and watched his eyes widened before he forced himself to stand while I dusted off my hands with anger.

"This is not over" He held his waist with a red face before he turned and fled into the evening.

"Making enemies before you leave?" came from behind me and I recognized the voice immediately.

"He should be careful with whom he touch, I'm not opposed to teaching a fool his lesson" I responded before turning to the middle aged lady from the gates.

"Marcus is famous around here for his wicked actions. Be careful is all I tell you" she gave me a concerned smile before taking an ale from the passing girl and downing it then walked away.

"Good advice" Selene breathed out and I smiled.

"Did I scare anyone?"
