Chapter 1 - Dreams of a Fool

A dream, a nice, warm place. Sometimes, I wish I could sleep there a little longer. Gone from the pressures of life. Considered it before, always considered it then. It lingers in my head on a daily basis, eating away at my sanity till the thread snaps. I am a fool. A selfish fool. In the end, nobody will care. I am content with that. I'm not special, nor am I nothing in the face of the world. I am merely a failure. That's who I am, a failed one. I try and try on a daily basis for growth, yet I am only struck down again and again.

That's why I want to merely sleep. I want to sleep there forever...

"My name was Bob Anderson. My life is what you'd define as basic. I wake up, go to school, sleep, and repeat. Hell, even my name was basic. I don't have many friends, and I've never been in a romantic relationship in my entire life. People called me a nerd and a loser, but what's the problem with that? I'm fine being alone!"

"Bob? Bob, are you listening?" It was his good pal, Hunter Ferry, talking to him. Even when lacking in friends, Hunter was the only one who gave him any mind in his daily life.

Bob snapped out of his daydream and set his pencil aside. "Sorry, I was dozing off; what you were saying was quite boring." Hunter didn't like his rudeness, but didn't complain. "You know what? Nevermind. I'll see you tomorrow." He sat up from his desk and stormed out of the classroom without saying another word. Bob felt like he had said something wrong, but he gave off as little care as possible. Noticing the other students leaving, Bob realized that the class had ended and school was over.

Leaving through the back of the school, he went as quietly as possible in an attempt to not get noticed. "Now that I've escaped from the confines of school, it's time for me to leave!" He sounded ecstatic, primarily due to the fact that his favorite manga he's been reading had released a new chapter that day. Pulling out his phone to find the manga website, he accidentally bumps into somebody on the sidewalk.

It was a pretty girl named Kisara. Her dazzling gaze, silky blonde hair, and pretty blue eyes that looked like gems. He recognized her around school, but he never bothered to talk with her. She was popular, and Bob felt it would be a hassle to even attempt to interact with her. This instance was different, though. He imagined a married life with her, the two of them making love and having a nice family of four. It was a warm, happy dream, but when he snapped back to reality, he realized he was just awkwardly glimpsing at her boobs.

"H-Hey." Bob awkwardly said. For a moment, she didn't say anything until her expression transformed to one of disgust. She then turned around, continuing to stand at the bus stop in silence. It may seem rude at face value, but for Bob, he walked away in shame knowing what he had done. "She definitely caught me staring at her boobs like a pervert!"

He walked back home, slamming the door behind him. Frustrated at the incident, the embarrassing moment hurt his pride a little. "Well, it's not my fault! She pretty much had them out!" Grumbling to himself, he quickly showered and then went to the kitchen for a quick bite to eat. Seeing a note on the fridge, it says that his mother would be out again. "Same as usual."

After walking upstairs with a bowl of cereal, he set the cereal down on his desk and lay in his bed. "I might as well catch up on some manga!" Blinking once, he felt his body grow heavy. "Now that I think of it, this position in bed is pretty comfortable..." His eyes were hard to keep open, as if weights were placed underneath them. It was screaming for him to fall asleep, but he desperately tried not to. "I need to stay awake for my manga! I've been waiting all day! I can't waste time here by napping!"

He fell asleep.

He gasped for air, waking up abruptly from his slumber. He felt uncomfortable, not feeling the relaxation of his fluffy bed. Instead, a cold, hard floor was underneath him. Observing his surroundings, he was baffled. The interior wasn't his bedroom. He was in a hallway that stretched far. The interior looked similar to a palace in some fantasy manga. Elegant and breathtaking designs. Looking out the windows of where he stood, it shocked him even more.

Outside was a vast world enveloped in darkness. He can see structures built over certain areas, like how a giant tower of black mass was built over the nearby mall. Or how the library was a giant cage, flowing in and out with a mysterious black winged creatures. "What the hell..." He saw more creatures roaming around his neighborhood. All taking different forms and shapes. Some were skeletal knights in a dark, eerie form. Others were black four-legged beasts with jaws that were almost half of their body size. Its teeth were long and pointy, and its tongue was dragging along the concrete floor. With every step, they left black goop on the floor, leaving trails of goo in every street. Then, the monster directed its yellow glowing eyes under the moonlight towards Bob, causing him to drop backwards.

"Crap, did it see me?! No, even if it did, I doubt it would be able to get me, because..." Bob put his head out of the window once more. He analyzed the structure he was in. He was in an enormous royal palace, stretching what seems to be hundreds of miles. "Where the hell am I?! And does this mean my house was replaced by this thing!"
