"We need to run, she's turning into a corn monster, she's going to attract others to us," Ethan warned the group with urgency.
The group turned to Ethan, wondering how he knew the information. The girls screamed again, and the group tensed. The girl began writhing on the ground. His limbs were bent in weird positions. On the arm, a red substance spread across her body, consuming her flesh like a parasite. Many began stepping back, afraid she might lash at them.
"No, we can't leave her, she's my sister." A girl in the group said as she knelt on the ground, grabbing the turning girl's hand beginning to cry.
Fuck, Ethan thought. There was no way to save the girl once the process had begun. There was one way to stop it, but he was fairly certain no one had access to that right now. The group began to get worried, torn between helping the girl and escaping from danger. A roar came forth; the corrupted were getting closer.
Ethan looked at Ms Sophia, the de facto group leader, who also seemed torn between two ideas. Whether to help the girl or not. Her face scrunched up with pity as she looked at the turning girl. Before turning to face the group
"We need to go NOW! Those monsters are coming." She said with a heavy heart, pointing at a nearby building, signaling everyone to go into it.
"No, please help us, we can't leave her here." The girl's sister pleaded. She turned to Ms. Sophia with tears in her eyes, hoping to extract some pity.
"Bitch, let's leave them. We will die if we stay to help those two." Said Jake.
Ethan frowned. Jake was the senior whom Eve had cheated on with. He turned his head to face him. His face was scrunched up with worry, his hand firmly resting on Eve. As usual, he was dressed in designer clothes; it was rumored that his dad was a rich CEO of some big company, and he cheated to get into this university. Ethan nearly gagged at his sight. He hates this man with every fiber of his being.
"You will die here, Luna. We need to go." Ms. Sophia pleaded with the girl on her knees, crying for her sister.
The turning sister thrashed even more intensely as the rate she was becoming corrupted increased. With a grunt, she launched herself forward, toppling her sister. And biting onto her neck, she began ripping into her flesh, rupturing an artery, spurring blood everywhere. Some of the girls in the group screamed in response.
"RUN." Ms. Sophia instructed the group. The group turned and began running into a nearby building, Ms. Sophia following close behind. Behind them, corrupted flooded into the street, launching themselves onto Luna. Somehow, the corrupted didn't seem to attack Luna's sister, who was corrupted. They didn't attack each other.
The group climbed up higher into the building, looking for a place to hide from the horde of corrupted swarming on the streets they were just at. They all entered a room and quickly began barricading it, to prevent any corruption that might have followed them. They slumped down onto the ground, tired of running.
"How are we supposed to get to the police now?" Eve asked the group, breaking the silence.
"I don't know." Ms. Sophia replied truthfully, her chest heaving due to the amount she had run.
