Chapter 1: The sound no one else heard
Clara's first night in the Harper house was colder than she expected.The old wooden floors groaned beneath her feet, setting sounds echoing through the empty rooms like distant footsteps.she had hoped the silence would be peaceful __a fresh start . instead it whispered secrets she wasn't ready to hear .
As the clock struck midnight ,Clara lay awake in her new bedroom , staring at the ceiling.That's when she heard it :a faint murmur from beneath the floorboards.
At first , she thought it was the wind,or maybe the pipes.But the sound didn't match anything she'd ever know.
Soft voice , almost like a conversation , but tangled and muffled.
Curious , she pressed her ears to the cold wooden floor.she caught her breath.
"....help me .... don't forget.... she's coming...".
Goosebumps rose on her skin.The whispers were urgent , desperate __ but no one else in the house seemed to hear them.Not even her dog,max,who laid curdled up at the foot of the bed , unborethed.
Clara pulled her hand away and sat up .her heart pounded in the silence that followed.
The house had secrets.And now , she was part of them.
