Six months later, Adrian, who was previously thin, had now regained some weight and looked healthy. He had grown slightly taller, and his formerly gaunt face had filled out, making him look handsome. Adrian stood in front of a mirror, staring at his own face and tidying his messy hair, then he left the room and walked down the corridor.
Today he was leaving Singapore and returning to Jakarta. He stopped in front of a door marked "Dr. Kelvin, Cardiologist and Surgeon" and knocked.
"Come in," a voice from inside called out.
Adrian opened the door. He saw Dr. Kelvin looking at X-ray results, sitting at his desk. When the doctor turned and saw Adrian standing at the door, he immediately put down the X-rays and stood up. He opened his drawer and took out a brown envelope.
"Sorry to bother you, Doctor, I've come to say goodbye," Adrian said.
"Yes, I know. It's time, isn't it? Alright, this is something your parents left for you," Kelvin said, handing him the brown envelope.
Adrian opened it. The brown envelope contained Adrian's personal data, from his birth certificate to the homeschooling diplomas he had been pursuing. Inside, there was also a certificate for an apartment in North Jakarta, complete with keys and access cards. After that, there was a letter containing bank account details with an ATM card in his name and a substantial amount of money.
Adrian's eyes welled up as he saw the contents of the envelope. Kelvin, seeing this, held and patted his shoulder.
"I don't know why your parents left that envelope, but in my opinion, they had a feeling they would leave you alone before the accident happened. So from now on, you must also live for their sake," Kelvin said.
"I understand, Doctor," Adrian replied.
"Oh, one more thing, I've recommended you to a school near your apartment. I happen to have a colleague there, so even though it's a year late, you'll be entering 10th grade there from now on," Kelvin said, handing him a white envelope he took from his doctor's coat pocket.
"Oh, I see, Doctor," Adrian said, accepting the envelope.
Adrian looked at the contents of the envelope. It contained a student ID card, a summary of his registration form, and a payment receipt. In addition, the envelope also contained a plane ticket for his return to Jakarta and his renewed visa.
"Sorry, I peeked into that envelope last week," Kelvin said with a wink.
"But I've never actually been to school, though I wanted to," Adrian said.
"It's alright. Learn to socialize with everyone. After all, you had no problem here, did you?" Kelvin replied.
"Yes, Doctor, I understand," Adrian replied.
After that, Adrian shook hands with Kelvin and left the room, leaving Kelvin alone. Kelvin returned to his seat and stared at the door.
"Huff... good thing he believed the envelope was from his parents. Poor kid, his uncle brought all his personal data here and asked us to pull the plug when he was in a coma two months after the surgery. I perfectly understand people like his uncle; he must have taken all of Adrian's inheritance. Luckily, the heart donor, besides donating his heart, also wrote a will to hand over his assets to the recipient, so his hospital bills, the apartment that was transferred to his name based on the will, plane tickets, and school fees are all covered," Kelvin muttered to himself.
"Ring," the phone on his desk rang. Kelvin pressed his intercom. A nurse said there was a patient who wanted to see him. When the nurse mentioned her name,
"Oh, bring her into my office, help her," Kelvin said.
"Okay, Doctor," the nurse replied.
Then Kelvin sat comfortably and looked at the door, waiting for the nurse to bring his patient into the room.
"Oh yes, if I'm not mistaken, the same thing happened to her a year and a half ago. She's also a fortunate unfortunate child, and six months later she believed me when I told her it was her grandmother who left the brown envelope I gave her, even though it was actually her heart donor who gave it, haha," Kelvin thought to himself.
"Click," Kelvin's office door opened. A nurse entered, pushing a wheelchair on which sat a beautiful girl who had no legs.
"Hello, Doctor Kelvin, how are you?" the girl greeted.
"Hello, Elsa, I'm well. How are you?" Kelvin replied, standing up.

Three hours later, at the international airport, Adrian stepped out of the arrival terminal. He immediately got into a waiting taxi and put his bag in the trunk. After telling the driver his destination, the taxi sped off, leaving the airport and heading towards South Jakarta.
Throughout the journey, Adrian looked out the window, observing the city of Jakarta, which had developed since he was in Singapore and recovering two years ago. Occasionally, he tried to see through the tall buildings and smiled to himself.
"It's been two years, I really miss home. Even though it's far from school, it's okay, I'll just go home first," Adrian muttered.
An hour later, due to Jakarta's congested roads, the taxi arrived at a rather luxurious housing complex. The taxi stopped in front of a large, spacious-looking house. After paying and retrieving his bag from the trunk, Adrian got out and looked at his house.
"Hehe, still the same," he thought to himself.
"Please, sir."
Hearing a voice, Adrian turned. He was surprised to see a man in a shirt carrying a folder labeled "property" walk past him and unlock the gate for a glamorous-looking couple to enter. Adrian immediately turned and saw a banner on his fence that read "For Sale."
"What? How...?" Adrian asked.
But before he could step forward to follow the people entering his house,
"Hey, who are you? Don't block the way," a man scolded.
Adrian turned and was shocked to see his uncle in a car, who was also surprised when he saw Adrian's face. His uncle immediately got out of the car and stood in front of Adrian.
"You're Adrian?" his uncle asked.
"Yes, Uncle, I'm home. What does this mean?" Adrian asked, pointing to the "For Sale" banner.
"Oh, I didn't know you were coming home. At the time, I thought this house was empty, and the cost to maintain it was quite high, so I decided to sell it. Of course, I'll give you the money later; I'll just take a commission," his uncle said.
Adrian looked at the small hologram screen floating above his uncle's head and read the text within:
[Damn it, why did this kid come back? Shouldn't he have died too, like my damn brother-in-law and sister? This is really bad. And I've already transferred the house to my name, and my brother-in-law's company has also changed hands to me. This is truly a disaster. I need money now to grow my business.]
Adrian's hands clenched into fists, his face suddenly turning red with anger and suppressed emotion. He immediately glared at his uncle, who was his mother's older brother, standing in front of him.
"Sorry, Uncle, if I'm still alive. The doctors did say my life would only be until 15, maybe less, but just so you know, Uncle, I've already had my 15th birthday, and this October, I'll be 16," Adrian said angrily.
"Eh... what are you talking about? Why are you angry?" his uncle asked.
"Relax, Uncle. I know everything. This house is already in your name, isn't it? And you've also taken Dad's company, haven't you? Don't worry, Uncle, I'm not angry. But just wait, someday I'll come back to sue you, understand, Uncle?" Adrian replied angrily.
"Wh... what are you talking about? How could I be that cruel? I just took over temporarily because if not, who would take care of it? You weren't old enough and you were hospitalized at the time. I was worried, you know," his uncle replied, sweat pouring down his face.
Adrian looked at the screen again, where the text had now changed to something different:
[How could he know? No way. Who told this brat? Why didn't he just die? He's just causing me trouble. Now how do I get rid of him? Anyway, go ahead and sue me, you unlucky kid, you have nothing left.]
"I'm not saying now, Uncle, but later, when I'm grown up and successful. That's enough, Uncle. You don't need to find a way to get rid of me. Have fun spending my mom and dad's money. I hope you take that money to hell with you," Adrian said, walking away.
"Oi Adri... Adrian, wait!" his uncle shouted, calling after Adrian.
Adrian walked quickly, leaving his house, his face very red from suppressed emotion and his teeth gritted. His hands were tightly clenched. He kept walking until he finally reached the complex's exit.
