One night, a teen girl waits outside of her house for her friends to pick her up. She starts to get frustrated as they're an hour late. Meanwhile, someone watches her from a distance. The girl then scoffs and heads back into her house. Before she could walk through door, she is grabbed from behind, causing her to drop her phone. She tries to scream, but her mouth is covered and she is taken away.
Meanwhile, Dick and Aaron ride through Bludhaven on a night patrol. As Aaron drives, Dick is rapidly typing on a laptop. Aaron looks over and notices how focused Dick looks.
"Still no luck with Lawtons computer, huh?" Aaron finally asks.
Dick let's out a long sigh.
"Nope. I was never really good at this part of the job."
As Dick closes the laptop, Aaron comes up with an idea.
"You know, I remember you telling me that someone was really good at this part of the job."
Dick thinks for a minute, then realizes who Aaron is talking about.
"No. No way. I'm not asking her."
"Come on Grayson, she's the only one that can help. You're gonna have to swallow your pride, and ask for her help."
"I'm not doing it, and you can't make me."
"Look, I know she hurt you man. But this is our best shot to find Black Mask."
Dick thinks to himself for a moment, not sure what to do. A police report about a kidnapping near them then comes over the Radio.
"Let's put the computer on hold for a moment, and do our jobs." Dick says as they speed through the streets.
They soon make it to the house and see the parents crying and Chief Yin questioning them. They get out and approach Yin.
"What's going on Chief?" Dick asks.
"A possible kidnapping. A teenage girl was seemingly taken. Parents say they came home to a dropped phone and a wide open door."
Yin hands the two a photo of the girl.
"Is there any sign of struggle, or forced entry?" Cash asks.
"No. But, there was something....disturbing, upstairs. I didn't want the parents see it, it'll just make things worse on them."
Dick and Aaron look at each other, then go upstairs. When they walk into the girls room, they see "She's mine" written in blood, on the wall.
"Jesus Christ. You think that's the girls blood?" Aaron asks.
"I don't know."
Dick then takes a sample of the blood.
"But I'm going to find out."
When the two walk out of the house, the mother stops Dick, with tears in her eyes.
"Please. Find my baby girl."
Dick recognizes the look of loss in her eyes, and wants to make sure it doesn't become permanent. He puts his hands on the mother's shoulders.
"You have my word. We'll find her." Dick tells her.
As he walks away, the mother can't help but believe him and be reassured by his words.
Later, Dick suits up as Nightwing and Aaron is on the computer, reading the results of the blood sample.
"It says the blood belongs to Louis Sanders. A retired cop." Aaron says.
"Is there an address for him?" Dick asks.
"Yeah, I'll patch it into your suit."
When Aaron looks back, Dick is already gone.
"This is my life now." Aaron says.
Soon, Dick makes it to the address that Cash gave him. He is alarmed to find the glass door busted open and pulls out a wingding. Dick then slowly walks through the door and the house, trying to watch his surroundings. When he makes it to the Kitchen, he sees Louis Sanders, dead on the ground, his throat slashed and body mangled.
Dick then sends a message to Yin to come to his location, alone.
