Chapter 33 - Careful, Kayden. I Punch.

Y/n POV

We finished our work, but I still felt embarrassed about the last scene. Today was also a busy day. My body ached as I continued working, but all I really wanted was to sleep.

I yawned. "Aah—" I stretched my muscles before getting up and walking around a little.

Kayden glanced at me. "Y/N, you should take a rest."

I shook my head. "I'm fine, just a little tired."

He nodded, but I could tell he was exhausted too. He had been working just as hard. His sleeves were rolled up, and he had tossed his tie onto the ground. As he moved, I noticed he had unbuttoned the top of his shirt...

"I'll go and get coffee for you, sir!" I said quickly.

Kayden barely glanced up from his documents, only giving a small nod in response. He seemed completely absorbed in his work.

I stepped outside and was surprised to see that it was already dark. Most of the employees were packing up, getting ready to leave for the night. The office felt quieter now, almost eerily so.

I headed to the break room, preparing a cup of coffee. The rich aroma filled the air as I stirred it, making sure it was just right. Then, carefully carrying the cup, I made my way back to Kayden's office.

As I entered, I found him rubbing his temple, a deep frown on his face. He was on the phone, his tone sharp and impatient.

"Yeah, yeah, just do it fast. I don't have time," he said curtly before hanging up.

I hesitated for a moment, then quietly walked over and placed the coffee on his desk.

Kayden glanced at the clock, then at me. "Y/N, it's getting late. We should leave."

I sighed, placing the steaming cup of coffee on his desk. "Drink your coffee first, then we'll go, okay?"

He let out a soft sigh but nodded, picking up the cup. As he took a sip, his shoulders remained tense, and he rubbed his temple again.

"Do you know how to give a massage?" he asked suddenly.

I blinked, caught off guard. "W-What?"

Kayden smirked, tilting his head slightly. "My head is throbbing right now… please?" His voice was softer this time, almost coaxing.

I hesitated for a moment before stepping behind his chair. Slowly, I placed my fingers in his hair and started massaging his scalp, moving in slow, gentle circles.

A deep sigh escaped his lips. "Mmm… yes, Y/N, you're really good at this."

His voice was low, laced with quiet satisfaction. The warmth of his skin, the softness of his hair beneath my fingertips—it all made my heart race. After a moment, he tilted his head back slightly, and our eyes met. Our faces were close, too close.

For a second, neither of us spoke.

Then Kayden's voice broke the silence. "Y/N… did you talk to Coel about moving?"

I nodded, my hands still in his hair. "Yes… but he said no."

Kayden's jaw tightened slightly. "Then I'll talk to him."

I shook my head gently. "Don't worry, Kayden. I'll manage."

A smirk played on his lips as he closed his eyes again, leaning into my touch. "No way. I want this massage daily."

I let out a small chuckle. "Okay, okay."

His quiet laugh joined mine, and for a moment, the exhaustion of the day faded away, replaced by the warmth between us.

After that, we left for the office. I don't know why, but I fell asleep in the car. I could hear some sounds, but I didn't want to open my eyes. Then, I felt someone pick me up. Slowly, I opened my eyes—it was Kayden.

I placed my hands on his shoulders.

"Umm... I want to sleep," I mumbled, closing my eyes again.

"Sleep, baby. You're tired," he said softly.

I could feel myself being placed on the bed. Kayden pulled the blanket over me and left. I drifted into a deep sleep for some time… until my stomach growled.

"Aah, I'm hungry," I mumbled, rubbing my eyes as I sat up. But the second I opened them, my brain short-circuited.

In front of me stood a man—his back facing me—half-naked, wearing only pants. A towel was in his hand as he lazily dried his damp hair. I blinked, my sleepy brain struggling to process the situation. Then it hit me—I wasn't in my room.

"AAAHHH!" I screamed, squeezing my eyes shut and yanking the blanket over my head like it was a shield against embarrassment.

A deep chuckle followed. "Y/N, what happened? Are you okay?"

I peeked out cautiously. "Where am I?!"

Kayden turned around, his smirk far too amused. "Uh… well, you're in my house."

I groaned, flopping back onto the bed. "Why didn't you drop me off at Emma's place?"

"You were in a deep sleep, and I was exhausted too, so I thought…" He trailed off, scratching the back of his head.

I narrowed my eyes. "Thought what? Kidnap me in my sleep?"

Kayden gasped dramatically. "Wow, you make me sound like a villain! I was being nice!"

I huffed, crossing my arms. "Whatever. I'm hungry." I pouted for extra effect.

Kayden chuckled. "Let's go then. I'll make something for you."

My eyes widened. "You know how to cook?"

He hesitated. "Not really… you'll have to help me."

I groaned but nodded. "Fine, let's go."

Kayden smirked. "Want me to carry you downstairs?"

I gasped, horrified. "I'm fine! My legs work perfectly!"

He laughed as we headed to the kitchen, my stomach growling like an angry beast.

Kayden clapped his hands together. "Alright, chef, what should we make?"

"Pasta!" I grinned.

He nodded. "Got it."

"You cut the vegetables, and I'll cook," I instructed, rolling up my sleeves.

Kayden smirked. "Okay, ma'am!" He saluted playfully before getting to work.

As I focused on the stove, I suddenly felt a pair of strong arms wrap around my waist.

"Hey!" I protested. "Why are you always touching and kissing me?"

Kayden hummed innocently, resting his chin on my shoulder. Then, without warning, he pressed a quick kiss to my cheek.

"Ugh, see! You did it again!" I huffed.

He chuckled. "That? That wasn't a kiss, Y/N."

I turned to face him, raising a brow. "Really? Because you've kissed my cheek way too many times."

Kayden smirked. "A peck doesn't count as a kiss. Now, if I kissed you on the lips, that would be different." He leaned in slightly, his gaze flickering to my lips. "I wonder… If your cheek is this soft, your lips must be even softer—"

SMACK!

I punched his arm before he could finish.

"Ouch! Hey!" he laughed, rubbing the spot.

"Focus on chopping, flirt-boy!" I scolded, turning back to the stove.

Kayden sighed dramatically. "Fine, but I expect a reward after dinner."

"Yeah, yeah," I muttered, trying (and failing) to hide my smile.
