"May!" Katheryne shouts, intentionally over the top, arms up in greeting. She waves her arms back and forth, wiggling to cause max attention in her direction.
It's a bold move for a full grown woman. And one May clearly appreciates.
May runs over to the woman, and leaps into her outstretched arms.
The woman grunts. May is getting older - nearly seven, I think, though I don't know when her birthday actually is - and growing like a weed.
I walk into the inn lobby at a much slower pace than the kid did, my footsteps heavy and slow.
"Auntieee! Hurry hurry!" May waves me over. "Look! It's! Katie!" She introduces us unnecessarily. As if I don't recognize the woman I introduced May to.
But it is cute.
"I can see that." I ruffle her hair. "Hello, Katherine. Good to see you again."
"You all survived the snow storm? I was a bit worried there for a bit." Katheryne laughs. "But looks like everything worked out okay."
