"What are you doing?" As the terrifying explosion and dust began to settle, Clark flashed in front of Geb, stopping him in mid-air with a calm question.
"He's out of control..." Geb glanced at the distant explosion marks and then at the giant ape Robert, frowning as he looked at Clark.
"No, he's not. He's very clear-headed. Let them settle their fight." Clark shook his head slowly, seriously looking at Geb. "If he were truly out of control, he'd already be causing rampant destruction. His target is still Khonshu; the last attack just missed because Khonshu dodged it..."
"You!" Geb's face darkened at Clark's words. No one had ever dared speak to the gods of Helipolis this way. In the past, Geb would have already struck out, and all the gods would have joined him to assert Helipolis's inviolable dignity.
Unfortunately, Helipolis was no longer the power it once was. During its time on Earth, Helipolis wasn't the top pantheon but was far stronger than pantheons like Wakanda. Their god-king was a powerful sky father.
But now, the god-king of Helipolis was missing, and many gods had left to find him. The remaining gods, while having some who could barely display sky father-level combat power, were not much stronger than the Black Panther God Bast. They didn't want to provoke Clark, who had defeated Bast.
Especially since a fight would cause immense damage to Helipolis itself. Robert's destruction was already testing the gods' patience. Fighting Clark would bring even greater destruction, something the gods couldn't endure.
After a moment of silence, realizing no god wanted to confront Clark, Geb retreated, avoiding conflict.
As for Khonshu, Geb could only hope for his luck. In Geb's view, Khonshu brought this upon himself by targeting Robert's power. If not for that, Robert and Clark wouldn't be here.
Still, Geb wasn't worried about Khonshu dying. Despite the great destruction caused by the giant ape Robert, Khonshu could merge with the moon in the sky. If it came to that, he could just surrender. Geb didn't believe Clark wanted a life-or-death feud with Helipolis.
Meanwhile, Khonshu, focused on the violent aura of the giant ape Robert, was unaware that Geb had withdrawn support. While dodging Robert's attacks, Khonshu was also trying to understand the earlier transformation.
When Khonshu discovered the giant ape Robert through the Moon Knight, it was because Robert exhibited moonlight power, which quickly disappeared as if absorbed entirely. This was more threatening than the gradual enhancement of werewolves. Hence, Khonshu had the Moon Knight investigate Robert.
When Robert arrived in Helipolis and fought Khonshu, the Moon God didn't initially notice anything unusual about Robert. But as the fight progressed and Khonshu inflicted more wounds, the mutation occurred.
This mutation was significant for both Robert and Khonshu. The moonlight that entered Robert's wounds, uncontrolled by him, activated his cells, transforming him into the giant ape. This moonlight was also absorbed entirely by Robert's cells, beyond Khonshu's control.
In essence, Robert truly absorbed part of the moonlight power, essentially stealing Khonshu's divine authority.
This made Khonshu even more eager to understand Robert's situation, especially how his moonlight power vanished. However, transformed into the giant ape, Robert's power increased tenfold, including his regeneration. Wounds inflicted by Khonshu healed instantly after the transformation, leaving no trace.
Moreover, Robert, not knowing the nature of the moonlight and being passively transformed, instinctively covered his body with a layer of energy to prevent further unexpected changes.
Although Robert's initial goal in fighting Khonshu was to understand the moonlight power, he disliked unforeseen changes. He preferred to defeat Khonshu and gradually understand the moonlight power during the battle, avoiding any unpredictable variables that might affect the fight.
"It's just like before. The moonlight power disappeared, absorbed by him. My power has indeed decreased. What I sensed on Earth wasn't a mistake due to distance..." Khonshu thought while dodging Robert's attacks.
"But how did he do it? If he absorbed the moonlight power, why isn't he absorbing the surrounding moonlight now? And why doesn't he show any external signs of having absorbed it?"
With a bang, as Khonshu pondered, Robert seized the opportunity. His massive fist, larger than Khonshu's body, struck Khonshu, sending him flying.
A towering mountain that seemed to connect heaven and earth trembled as Khonshu crashed into it, making the entire peak sway precariously.
However, a yellowish light appeared in Helipolis, merging with the mountain, expelling Khonshu and stabilizing the peak, preventing it from collapsing.
Despite this, the mountain now had visible changes, its structure more distorted and its shape altered.
When the yellow light appeared, Clark thought the gods of Helipolis couldn't tolerate Robert's destruction any longer and were about to intervene. But they were merely repairing the environment, enduring the destruction.
With a cough, Khonshu, expelled from the mountain, spat out divine blood mid-air. The blood, glowing with divine light, shot up into the sky.
As the divine blood vanished, Helipolis darkened as if night had fallen. A bright moon hung in the sky, casting a serene, mysterious glow over Helipolis, enhancing Khonshu's aura.
"Why does this Moon God feel different now? His presence is so overwhelming!" Kara, observing the change in Khonshu, felt a tinge of worry and communicated with Clark.
"Probably his final form. I'm not sure. I can't sense powerful beings as well as others. But his strength shouldn't surpass Queen Frigga's. Robert should be fine. If necessary, I can step in to stop the fight..." Clark, also serious, replied.
"Better not. If Robert isn't in mortal danger, don't intervene. He doesn't like others meddling in his fights..." Kara hesitated before advising Clark.
Kara knew Robert wouldn't let anyone interfere unless he was completely defeated or facing an unbeatable opponent.
On the other side, as the moon replaced the sky, Khonshu, observing the giant ape Robert, tried to use Helipolis' full moon to scrutinize Robert's anomaly. But even after thorough observation, he found nothing. The full moon and Robert remained separate entities with no interaction, and Robert showed no intention of absorbing the moonlight.
Faced with this, Khonshu decided to act. He aimed to subdue Robert first, putting thoughts of Clark aside. His divine authority was at stake, leaving him no choice.
With a hum, Khonshu's form vanished, reappearing in the sky above Robert, below the full moon. As Robert looked up, bright moonlight, like sharp knives, rained down, aiming to slice him to pieces.
Robert immediately sensed the danger. Normal techniques or energy blasts weren't enough to counter this widespread attack, but Robert quickly devised a counter.
With a hum, Robert placed his massive hands on his temples, unleashing a powerful energy beam.
Solar Flare!
Improved to emit intense light and energy, the Solar Flare now not only blinded and disrupted enemies' senses but also attacked with sun-like energy, mirroring Khonshu's assault.
In Helipolis, two distinct light sources clashed, like the sun and moon vying for dominance.
For the first time, Robert used the Solar Flare to clash with an opponent. Each beam of light was a collision of their attacks, causing widespread destruction to the land and environment.
The moon in the sky couldn't protect the land while attacking, and the clash also caused damage to Helipolis.
Over time, Robert felt increasing pressure. This form of energy clash was new to him. Although his power had surged with his transformation, he couldn't keep increasing his combat strength, leading to exhaustion.
Being Khonshu's domain, the moon seemed linked to Helipolis, providing endless power. It was impossible for Robert alone to counter all of Helipolis.
Thus, as time passed, the theoretically stronger sunlight began to wane. Moonlight, like sharp knives, cut through Robert's body, penetrating his energy shield and tough flesh.
Wounds appeared on Robert, weakening him. But then he noticed something strange. As the moonlight pierced his body and entered his wounds, it started stimulating his cells again...
