Chapter 216 Three Quests
After taking a moment to collect himself, Daniel stood up from his chair and reached into his shirt pocket, pulling out a very worn and mended bag. He carefully opened it and pulled out a few yellowed pages. Spreading them out on a nearby table, Daniel announced, "These will be the quests I'm assigning to you and the group you choose to bring. I've already handpicked them, so anyone you decide to include shouldn't be in much danger." His expression grew serious as he added, "However, do stay cautious; the most dangerous monsters are often other humans."
Aleshia listened to his wisdom and found herself in agreement with him, comparing her scattered memories to what he implied. As she compared her scattered memories to his insights, she focused her attention on the pages before her. One by one, she picked up each paper, quietly muttering the details of the quest. Growing dissatisfied and confused at the task at hand, she read aloud, "Gather medicinal herbs, some horned rabbits, and the last one is... bring back either the left ear or a gem from a goblin?"
Aleshia wanted some feedback on which quest she should be aiming for. Glancing up from the papers, she asked, "Since you handpicked these quests, could you help me understand why you chose them beyond just safety? I'm not entirely confident that the children would be able to fend off a goblin if that is the focus."
Daniel looked at Aleshia in puzzlement, not fully understanding her. Seemingly grasping something, he explained his reasoning to clarify things for her. "Your main quest, the one you will be sharing with the others, is medicinal hunting. The other two quests are something I want you to be aware of because they could help bring in some cash, which we all need to survive." He emphasized the word 'survive' before continuing, "Those monsters are also prevalent in the area where you'll be gathering the herbs. So, while you focus on the first quest, I want you to keep the other two in mind as well," Daniel explained clearly.
Aleshia hummed thoughtfully as she considered his reasoning, finding it particularly sound. Now thinking of who she would bring, she began to list the members she wanted in her group. "If Ren isn't doing something at the moment, I would want to choose her as my first pick. She was the first person to bring me here and seems very capable. My next choice would be Em; she appears to be quite intelligent, so she could help us identify the herbs. We could also consider bringing Rey along, as she seems able to do a lot of stuff too."
