Silas placed the collected materials into a specially categorized box meant for organizing different kinds of items. After securing everything, he left the area with Boldore following closely behind.
Trailing behind was his Blaziken, walking with its eyes shut.
Not long after the group of humans and Pokémon departed, the Weepinbell behind them regained consciousness and fled in panic.
The loss of its tail hook didn't mean much to it.
Weepinbells especially loved sleeping at night by hanging from tree branches using the hook on their backside. However, their sleeping posture was quite poor, so they often ended up falling off.
Occasionally, their tail hooks would detach.
For Grass-type Pokémon, recovering through natural photosynthesis was a simple task.
The only issue was that it would need time to accumulate more Poison Powder.
Fortunately, Weepinbells didn't rely on Poison Powder for hunting. They preferred using Stun Spore and Acid to capture their prey.
This meant it wouldn't go hungry over the next few days and wouldn't fall into a weakened state.
One human and two Pokémon continued to move through the forest.
From time to time, wild Pokémon would suddenly jump out and attack them.
Silas let Boldore handle all these encounters, collecting useful materials from their bodies afterward and ignoring the rest.
The main reason was that Boldore needed to gain battle experience. It needed to start by beating weaker opponents to build its skills. After all, once it evolved into a Gigalith, strength alone wouldn't be enough.
Against the Grass- and Bug-type Pokémon commonly found in the area, Blaziken's strength was more than enough. A single Flamethrower could take them out.
As for concerns about causing forest or mountain fires there was no need to worry.
The plants in this world had extremely high resistances and tenacious vitality, almost as if all their skill points had been invested in resilience. This might have been due to the energy naturally emitted by Pokémon.
It was also possible that all the plants unable to withstand damage had long since been eliminated through evolution.
Unless the fire was continuous and sustained, the most it could do was burn a small patch of vegetation, and the fire would extinguish quickly.
That was why, except for a few human settlements, most of the wild areas were dense with plants.
Even near cities, there were dedicated teams responsible for clearing out the aggressively growing vegetation.
If not for the fact that some wild Pokémon had massive appetites and consumed vast amounts of plant life, human living space would likely have been further encroached upon.
Silas arrived at a small stream and surveyed the surroundings.
"Boldore!"
"No danger? Then let's take a break here and have lunch."
As he spoke, he found a flat area, took out cooking tools and tableware from his backpack, and began preparing a meal.
"pidg~!"
A loud bird cry rang out across the sky. The powerful aura sent many wild Pokémon fleeing in fear, causing a notable commotion.
Silas whistled, calling back his Pidgeot from the sky.
This guy was getting way too cocky. Although, according to the League's map, there weren't any particularly strong Pokémon living nearby, making a scene like that still wasn't a good idea.
"Caw-geot!"
The Pidgeot flying in the sky heard its trainer's call and quickly descended, its talons clutching something unusual.
"Boss, look! I found a weird-looking guy!"
Pidgeot chirped excitedly to Silas. Before landing, it casually loosened its claws and dropped the prey straight to the ground a smooth and efficient predatory motion.
In Silas' previous life, he remembered that hawks hunted rabbits in much the same way dropping them to kill them before returning to the nest.
The only difference here was that Pidgeot hadn't caught a rabbit, but a Pokémon one not so easily killed by a fall.
"Weird-looking? How weird are we talking?"
Silas absentmindedly asked while preparing lunch, not even glancing in that direction.
Back when Pidgeot had done this sort of thing for the first time, Silas had been thrilled.
Who knows if Pidgeot brought back something valuable, maybe this would be a new way to make money. His Pokémon could earn its keep, after all.
But as the number of times increased, the things Pidgeot brought back truly became… strange. Like a stick that looked like a snake. Or a rock that resembled a Spearow.
In short completely useless stuff.
If not for wanting to spare Pidgeot's feelings, Silas would've preferred not to see that junk again.
But what could he do? It was his Pokémon, after all. If it was a little goofy, then so be it. He could only pamper it.
"Rat-tta~"
A weak and frightened cry suddenly rang out.
"Huh?" Silas raised his head, puzzled. He knew that voice very well. But wasn't Boldore on patrol? How could a wild Pokémon have gotten so close?
Then he saw his three Pokémon forming a circle, and in the middle of it, a rodent-like Pokémon was trembling in fear.
It had two large buck teeth and ears, creamy whiskers on its cheeks, and a slightly curled tail.
It was one of the most common Pokémon—a Rattata. But this particular Rattata was… quite interesting.
Silas put down his utensils and walked over to his Pokémon, observing the small Rattata.
"Pidgeot, this is the weird thing you mentioned?"
"Pid!" Yep, this is it! It's green and looks like a Rattata, but I've never seen one like this before!
Well, no wonder. Because what Pidgeot had found… was a Shiny Rattata.
Pidgeot tilted its head so it was still just a Rattata, huh? It immediately lost interest.
With a snap of his fingers, Blaziken, ever perceptive, knocked the Rattata out cleanly. Silas tossed a Poké Ball, capturing the Shiny Rattata with ease.
So-called Shiny Pokémon were ones with special color variations due to individual differences and environmental factors just like the white tigers from his previous life.
These Shiny forms didn't necessarily indicate outstanding potential. For example, the Rattata he'd just caught according to Zero's scan only had ordinary potential.
Of course, there were also Shiny Pokémon with excellent potential. But Silas had never seen one himself. Those were the kind of things best left to dreams.
Because of their unusual coloration, Shiny Pokémon were often driven out of their groups and forced to live alone. Naturally, this gave them more experience and often made them stronger.
However, the Shiny Rattata in front of him was green or more precisely, a light green unlike the usual purple coloration of its species. This actually helped it stay hidden, so its strength was only average.
Statistically, the chance of encountering a Shiny Pokémon was around 1 in 10,000—extremely rare, so they were still quite valuable.
Still, Silas hesitated.
If it were any other Pokémon, he'd probably just sell it. But Rattata was… different.
He sighed. Forget it.
"Lucky for you, you ran into me. I'll find you a job where you can freeload to your heart's content."
He spoke to the Poké Ball holding the Shiny Rattata, as if talking to it.
Then he quickly typed and sent a message through his smartwatch.
