Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: New Bracers

"Well... I guess there's no other way," Finn said, resigning himself to trying to learn.

"That's how it's done. I promise that by the time I'm done with you, you won't even remember that you ever cared about this kind of thing!" Cristel said excitedly. "And you, Darwin, are you also going to sign up for special training?"

"No way! I know very well how the world works. Besides, I'm loyal to non-human women," Darwin said, quickly rejecting the offer. "I'm talking to you since you're not entirely human," Darwin affirmed.

Time passed while the four talked among themselves, and it quickly became 7:00 a.m. The guild doors opened, admitting an elderly man. He was wearing an elegant suit and carried a cane that he used for support while walking. All the adventurers fell silent as soon as they saw this man arrive. He was Arnold Jones, the vice-master and advisor of the freewalker guild.

"Good morning, young adventurers," Arnold greeted, walking toward the center of the guild. "As you may know, the Masters had to leave the capital on a very important mission. That's why today I'll be the one to bring you some news and share with you information about important advancements in adventurer technology."

Upon hearing about advances in adventurer technology, the adventurers couldn't help but get excited, as the latest development allowed them to take photos with their cards.

"Okay, let's start with the most basic, but at the same time, the most important thing for the guild," Arnold said, taking a small controller out of his vest and pressing a button. Several screens appeared in the center of the guild, allowing everyone to see clearly. "Mr. Dan, alchemist and developer, has managed, along with his grandson, to further develop the way the guild can rate the status of one of its adventurers and has created this..."

A silver bracer appeared on the screen. Next to it was the typical status window, but this one seemed a bit more developed than the one they normally used; it had much more precision and data on the adventurers.

"As you can see, the status window has been further developed so that adventurers and Masters can more accurately view their progress. While I'd like to explain more about this window, we think the Masters and Vice-Masters will find it more fun to explore it for yourselves," Arnold said. Then, he snapped his fingers, and a bracer appeared in front of each adventurer. "With this bracer, you won't need to carry your cards anymore, as they're completely obsolete."

The adventurers were excited by the new bracers and put them on without hesitation, noticing how light and thin they were.

"I think you have enough time to explore the bracer later. For now, let's get on with the news," Arnold said, drawing everyone's attention. "The following aren't just improvements to old features, but new features that will aid you on your travels. The first is the video feature. With this feature, you'll be able to record everything around you. This will help you see your mistakes and help you improve. You'll also be able to share your adventures with your comrades or even the entire capital. Another new feature is a communication feature. This feature is still in development, so for now, you'll only be able to communicate with your teammates and the guild's receptionists. As some of you may have already discovered, this feature, called chat, was created from the card's help function. Although the help function could only send a brief signal to the guild master."

'Does the card have a help function?' Finn wondered, surprised.

"In the future, we plan to improve this chat to bring more features and freedom to adventurers. And finally, there's the "A new feature called the forum. Here the creator will post information about updates and all kinds of details, so if you don't want to miss anything, it's best to stay tuned for the posts. Without further ado, I'm off. Have a nice day, adventurers," Arnold said, leaving the excited adventurers.

"Wow, these are some improvements..." Cristel said, putting on her bracer and opening the status window.

"A big improvement, indeed," Amelia said, looking at Cristel's status window. "It was even able to detect how much succubus blood you have in your body."

"I'm more interested in this feature…" Darwin said as he recorded everything around him. "Now I can record my nights of passion when I find a partner…" he thought.

'There's something else that didn't appear in the novel… maybe I didn't travel to the novel's world, but to an alternate world' Finn thought, looking at the new bracer. 'There are too many changes for it to be a coincidence.'

Moving his hand slightly, the bracer vanished into thin air, and as he focused again, it reappeared on his arm.

"Binding magic! The creator definitely knew what he was doing when creating this bracer. This is a very effective way to keep the bracer from getting in the way in the middle of a fight." Amelia admired, watching the bracer disappear and reappear.

"The chat function will be very useful in this next mission. To be honest, I'm eager to see how much you can develop this feature," Cristel said, looking at the chat function. "It's a shame I don't have anyone to talk to… I hope in the next update we can add friends or something like that."

"Well, I think we should get everything ready for tomorrow. I'd like to leave early and get back to the capital as quickly as possible," Darwin said.

"Right… Oh, that reminds me of what you were talking about yesterday at the Under Guild. Are you guys going on another mission?" Finn asked Cristel.

"Mh, yeah, something like that. Twice a year, there's a massive mission to control the monsters in the north. Many adventurers of class C and above will attend, including myself. But it's not as important a mission as you think. We just need some preparation. It takes between 1 and 2 weeks to complete," Cristel stated.

"I see. Fine, in that case, I'll go. I have to get everything ready for tomorrow…" Finn said, getting up from the table next to Darwin, but a hand stopped him by pulling at his pants.

"Nuh-uh, not so fast," Cristel said with a big smile. "Did you think you could just leave without your first lesson? We won't see each other for a few days, so I have to teach you some basics before you go."

"Some basics?" Finn asked again.

"That's right. They're entering lands where several non-humans roam. So it's very important to teach you how to behave around them, since it's very likely you'll encounter one," Cristel said seriously, while Darwin and Amelia nodded. "It won't be necessary with Darwin, since he adores non-humans, so he knows how to treat them, but you don't…"

"Ugh… well, that could have been worse," Finn said, throwing himself onto his bed.

Cristel had simply taught him how to act around non-humans: what to do, what to say, and what not to say. She also told him that as an adventurer, he should always maintain a good posture, as this said a lot about him, according to Cristel.

"I hope we don't find anything important…" Finn said, falling asleep.
