Suddenly, a creaking sound echoed behind Zenitsu, chilling in the eerie mountain atmosphere.
Zenitsu shivered, freezing in place as if petrified.
Forcing himself to overcome his fear, he slowly turned his head.
The sight that met his eyes was soul-shattering: a spider with a human head was crawling towards him. The creaking sound was its movement.
"Ahhhhhhhh~~~ What the hell is that?!"
Zenitsu screamed, his fear fueling an adrenaline rush. He fled, his speed astonishing. He covered over ten meters in an instant, a yellow blur.
"A human-headed spider… What's going on? Am I dreaming? This is a dream! Wake up! Wake up!" Zenitsu shouted, trying to dispel his terror.
He ran blindly into a clearing with fewer trees.
He stopped abruptly, his pupils constricting in shock.
He saw people and a wooden house suspended in mid-air. Most were Demon Slayers; some were civilians.
Some were already changing; their limbs were shrinking, replaced by spider legs. They were horrifying, monstrous creatures.
"What the hell is that? What is that? Humans turned into spiders? Is that house floating? I can see… silk threads?" Zenitsu wondered.
A gust of wind carried a terrible stench towards him.
Zenitsu covered his nose, complaining, "Such a pungent smell! Tanjiro, with his sensitive nose, would be knocked out! My throat hurts! My eyes are watering!"
The stench was nauseating and overpowering, like a bioweapon.
The house creaked, and a human-headed spider, far larger than the one he'd encountered, descended on a strand of spider silk.
"So big! So big! So big!" Zenitsu exclaimed repeatedly.
This giant spider was the {demon} transforming humans into human-headed spiders. Unlike Muzan Kibutsuji turning people into {demons}, these transformations didn't enhance abilities; they merely changed humans into spiders with human heads. They were only good for frightening people, weaker than ordinary {demons}.
Muzan's {demonification}, in a way, was an evolution, although a flawed one.
