Chapter 21 - Chapter - 21 Evolutions, Weedle Captured

A New Day Begins

The first light of morning peeked through the trees, painting golden rays across the campsite. Birds chirped overhead, and the forest slowly stirred awake.

Ash was already up, stretching with a yawn before getting to work. He unpacked a few basic utensils and ingredients from his backpack—thanks to the system's inventory expansion—and got to cooking.

Soon, the warm scent of scrambled eggs, toast, and grilled vegetables wafted through the air.

Misty rubbed her eyes and sat up groggily. "Mmm… something smells amazing."

Ash grinned over his shoulder. "Figured we could start the day with something warm. Forest adventuring takes fuel!"

Pikachu was already seated nearby, tail twitching as it eyed the food. "Pikaaa~"

After plating breakfast for himself and Misty, Ash pulled out a small container filled with color-coded Pokéblocks. Each one was carefully tailored to his Pokémon's preferences—dry for Pidgeotto, sour for Arbok, sweet for Poliwag, and so on.

He lined them up in small dishes. One by one, his Pokémon emerged from their Poké Balls, chirping, hissing, or cheering in delight as they saw breakfast waiting.

"Caterpie, these are your first Pokéblocks! Hope you like the taste," Ash smiled, gently placing a green cube before the little bug-type.

Caterpie wiggled happily and took a bite, then sparkled with joy. "Wiiii~"

Spearow landed beside Pidgeotto, glaring at him again before pecking at its own block like it was a competition.

Pidgeotto ignored him… mostly.

Ash chuckled, handing Pikachu a bright yellow block. "Here you go, buddy."

"Pika-pi!" Pikachu chirped gratefully.

Misty took a bite of her toast, watching the happy Pokémon munching. "Wow… you really know how to take care of them, huh?"

Ash scratched the back of his head, a bit sheepishly. "Well… they're my team. Gotta keep them healthy, right?"

"And spoiled," Misty teased with a smirk, biting into a berry.

Ash just laughed. "They deserve it."

Ash glanced at the incubator holding the still-glowing egg, now resting beside Pikachu.

'Hmm… seems it'll take a bit more time,' he thought, smiling warmly.

The campsite was filled with soft munching sounds and the occasional chirp or purr of satisfaction. Caterpie had been especially enthusiastic, gobbling down Pokéblock after Pokéblock like a tiny green vacuum.

Then suddenly—he stopped.

Ash blinked. "Huh? Caterpie?"

Caterpie looked up at the sky, its body trembling slightly… and then it let out a high-pitched trill as it launched a String Shot straight upward. The silky white strands wrapped around its body, layer by layer, cocooning it completely.

Misty's eyes widened. "Is he—?!"

Ash stood up excitedly. "He's evolving!"

The glowing cocoon hovered in place briefly before settling softly onto the ground, its entire form bathed in a white light. Then, with a final pulse, the light faded—revealing Metapod.

"Whoa… Caterpie, you really did it!" Ash said proudly, kneeling beside the newly evolved Pokémon.

"Me-taaa…" the Pokémon replied quietly, eyes still wide with calm focus.

Just as Ash reached out to touch it, a shocked gurgle came from nearby.

"Poliiiii?!"

Everyone turned just in time to see Poliwag shaking, its little body surrounded by shimmering sparks. Its spiral belly glowed brightly—and then Poliwag began glowing too!

"No way!" Misty gasped, "Poliwag's evolving too?!"

"Two evolutions in one morning? This is really something." Ash grinned.

The glow intensified as Poliwag's form stretched and shifted—its limbs lengthening, tail becoming short and curly but stronger, and eyes narrowing with a new sense of focus. The light dimmed, revealing a sleek, stronger form.

---

As the glow from Poliwag's evolution faded and the proud new Poliwhirl stood tall, Misty found herself momentarily speechless.

Poliwhirl stretched its new arms, water-slick muscles gleaming faintly under the dappled sunlight. Its spiral belly shimmered with energy, and the way it flexed its limbs with confidence—there was no denying it.

Misty's eyes sparkled. "Wow… Water-types really are the best…"

She slowly walked up, crouching near Poliwhirl and admiring its strong yet graceful form. "You're amazing," she whispered, gently touching one of its arms. It was cool, smooth, and slightly rubbery—like a perfect blend of power and aquatic elegance.

Something inside her stirred. That old, familiar love for water Pokémons , bubbled up like a tide rising. She smiled softly.

"I definitely need to catch one like you," she murmured, her tone wistful.

Then, out of nowhere, her eyes flicked to Ash. He was wiping sweat off his brow, shirt a little loose from the morning's cooking and activities. His arms were lean but toned, stronger than she remembered—his face lit with pride and care for his Pokémon.

She blinked. Then blinked again.

"Okay but… Ash's arms are kinda…"

Her gaze lingered a moment longer than it should have.

"…Yeah, definitely the best."

And just like that, her cheeks flared red. "Wha—what am I thinking?!"

She shook her head quickly and stood up, trying to will the thoughts away. "Nope. Nope. Not going there."

Pikachu tilted its head. "Pika?"

"Nothing!" Misty snapped a bit too loudly, waving her hands. "I just… really like Water-types, that's all!"

Ash raised a brow. "You okay, Misty?"

"Totally fine! Perfectly normal! Let's keep going after I pack everything!" she blurted, already walking ahead.

Ash glanced at Pikachu. Pikachu just shrugged.

Behind her, Misty muttered to herself, cheeks still pink. "Focus on the Pokémon… not the trainer…"

But even as she headed down the trail, she found herself sneaking another glance at Ash—and smiling just a little.

[Ciel: Fufu She is blushing must be thinking about you ]

[Raphael: +1 ]

Ash: 'Well it's good for me.'

----

"Poliwhirl!"

Ash pumped a fist. "Poliwag… no, Poliwhirl! You look awesome!"

Poliwhirl grinned, flexing its new arms as if already getting used to them. Pikachu clapped, and even Spearow and Pidgeotto paused their rivalry long enough to nod in approval.

Ash stood proudly, looking over his Pokemon team.

"Looks like everyone's growing stronger already."

Ash laughed.

The newly evolved Metapod and Poliwhirl stood tall—well, as tall as they could—beside Ash, both pulsing with quiet determination. Nearby, the egg in the incubator pulsed just a little brighter, as if reacting to the evolution energy around it.

Ash noticed and smiled again. "Don't worry, little one. You'll be ready soon too."

With spirits hig, Ash took back his Pokemons and Misty packed up their things and prepared to continue deeper into the forest—

Misty let out a sudden, high-pitched scream that echoed through the forest.

"AAAAAHHH! BUG!!!"

Ash didn't even flinch. Neither did Pikachu.

Instead, they both let out long, practiced sighs.

Ash turned toward her with a dry look. "Misty, are you okay?"

Misty, now half-climbing a tree, pointed frantically with one trembling finger. "No! Do I look okay?! There's a Weedle! Get rid of it! Now!"

Ash looked over to where she was pointing and spotted a fairly large, healthy-looking Weedle inching calmly along a fallen log, its nose twitching curiously. It didn't seem particularly aggressive, but Misty was already halfway to tears.

He scratched his head. "It's just a Weedle…"

"It's a BUG," Misty hissed. "And it has a horn! Two! Catch it! Banish it! I don't care—just make it go away!"

Ash tilted his head, inspecting the Weedle more closely.

"Huh... Wait a second." His eyes narrowed. "That Weedle looks kind of familiar…"

A flash of memory passed through his mind—Original Ash's first few days in the Viridian Forest, the tough Weedle that got away because of that weird wannabe Samurai kid.

"...This might be the one Ash couldn't catch ." Ash frowned. "Which means..."

He glanced around. That guy might be nearby.

Turning to Pikachu, Ash gave a casual command. "Okay, Pikachu—just a regular Quick Attack, nothing fancy."

Pikachu blinked. Then, with a deadpan expression, pulled a folded futon out of nowhere, laid it out on the grass, and plopped onto it with a loud sigh. "Piiikaa…"

Ash stared, lips twitching. "...Are you serious right now?"

Pikachu rolled over and pulled a tiny blanket over itself. [A/N :- I wrote it cause it was really funny in the anime haha ]

Then pointed—with a tiny, lazy paw—toward Pidgeotto's Poké Ball on Ash's belt.

"...Pidgeotto's close to evolving. Use him."

Ash slowly facepalmed. "Unbelievable."

Misty was still panicking. "ASH! IT'S MOVING CLOSER!"

"Alright, alright!" Ash quickly pulled out the Poké Ball. "Pidgeotto, I choose you!"

In a flash of red light, Pidgeotto soared into the air with a sharp cry, wings flaring wide.

"Use Gust! Knock it away, but don't hurt it too much!"

With a powerful flap of its wings, Pidgeotto sent a swirling gust of wind straight toward the Weedle. The bug-type squealed as it was lifted into the air and harmlessly spun away into the forest like a confused leaf in a breeze.

Misty finally lowered her hands from her face. "Is it gone?"

Ash gestured toward the trees. "Gone. Launched about five feet off the ground and probably mad. You're welcome."

She let out a relieved breath. "Ugh… I hate bug-types."

From the ground, Pikachu let out a tiny snore, still comfortably tucked into his futon.

Ash just shook his head, smirking. "Guess we're all having a dramatic morning today."

Pidgeotto circled above once before landing proudly. Ash patted its feathers.

"Nice job, buddy. You're getting stronger every day."

---

As the gust faded and the forest settled, Ash noticed something unusual—despite being blasted away, the Weedle was already crawling back into view, wobbling but determined.

Ash narrowed his eyes. "Persistent little guy…"

Weedle's small horn sparked faintly as it glared at Pidgeotto, clearly not backing down. It shook off leaves clinging to its body and let out a sharp cry.

Misty shrieked again, scrambling behind Ash. "It's back?! WHY?!"

Ash smirked. "Now that's spirit. This Weedle's tough. I knew it had potential."

He reached for his belt and pulled out an empty Net Poké Ball, spinning it in his palm.

"Alright, then. Let's do this for real."

Weedle braced itself, lowering its horn.

"Pidgeotto, Quick Attack—let's weaken it just enough!"

With a sharp cry, Pidgeotto became a blur, dashing in and slamming into Weedle. The bug skidded backward, and fell unconscious, swirls in his eyes.

Ash tossed the Poké Ball with practiced ease. "Poké Ball, go!"

The ball flew through the air, smacked Weedle squarely, and snapped open. A flash of red light engulfed the bug-type, pulling it inside.

The ball landed on the ground.

Once.

Twice.

Click.

Ash pumped a fist. "Gotcha!"

Misty peeked from behind a tree. "Is it… really in the ball?"

Ash held it up proudly. "Yep. I finally got that stubborn Weedle."

Pikachu sleepily peeked out from under his futon and gave a slow, lazy thumbs-up.

Misty, however, was already backing away again. "You better not let it out near me. I swear, Ash."

Ash laughed, clipping the Poké Ball to his belt. "Don't worry, Misty. I've got full control."

[Raphael: That's a lie.]

[Ciel: Fufu~ He doesn't even have full control of himself.]

Ash: 'Can't argue that.'

With the team stronger , Weedle captured, Ash grinned confidently.

"Alright. Let's head deeper into the forest. Who knows what we'll run into next?"

Misty muttered something about bug repellents as she followed, still glaring at the Poké Ball on Ash's belt like it might explode.

Behind them, the forest rustled quietly… and somewhere, the sound of wooden clanking echoed faintly through the trees.

The samurai was not far behind.
