AT THE SAME TIME
JAXON'S POINT OF VIEW:
The door creaked again. We all turned as Xavier stepped back onto the porch, arms crossed over his chest, face unreadable. That blanket was gone now, replaced by a loose shirt and the kind of stillness that made the hair on my arms rise. His eyes flicked to Selene.
"You told them about it?"He asked.
My stomach dropped. It? Selene raised a brow, saying nothing. Typical. Michael glanced at me, clearly just as lost.
"What's 'it?'" He asked cautiously.
Xavier sighed, long and tired.
"Never mind." His voice was tight, guarded. "You have five minutes. That's it."
He turned and walked inside without waiting to see if we'd follow. Selene smirked and tilted her head.
"Good luck." She whispered like it was a curse.
