ADRIAN'S POINT OF VIEW:
Xavier was light in my arms, too light. His sobs had died down, but the trembling hadn't. I could still feel the shivers down his back as I carried him gently to the small room he'd been using in my home. He didn't resist. His face was buried in my shoulder, his breathing ragged. Whenever I felt him hiccup against me, I wanted to destroy whatever had caused it. I kicked the door with my foot, carefully lowering him onto the bed.
"You're safe." I whispered as I tucked the blanket around him. "You did nothing wrong. Rest now, yeah?"

brushed some hair from his forehead and pressed a soft kiss there before backing away. Only when I stood did I realize my hands were clenched so tightly they ached.
