On a bright sunny day, two days after the mission, alex and the others went for, Diablo was sitting in the park with Levi. The afternoon breeze carried a sense of peace that neither of them had felt in a long time. Diablo sighed in contentment, leaning back on the bench.
"It's been a while since I've felt this relaxed" he said with a small smile.
Levi chuckled, pulling out a cigarette. "Same here. Haven't had much time to smoke and relax at the same time."He lit it and took a long drag before exhaling. "Feels good."
Diablo glanced at him. "How are your students doing?"
"They're alright," Levi replied. "They did well on their last mission. But honestly, after hearing the context of it from kinto, those kids need to rest including yours. For their age, they're being pushed way too hard. I wish Kojin would find missions that don't leave them half-dead every time. But atleast their strong, so they'll pull through."
Diablo nodded slowly. "I get that. But it can't really be helped. You remember how we were as kids, don't you? Facing life-or-death missions almost every other day."
Levi scoffed lightly, shaking his head. "Well not every day, but it was frequent.Those times were crazy, always one rouge mad man or the other. I'm just glad they're gone." He took another drag, his eyes on the sky.
"But now we're top-ranked assassins and soldiers," Diablo reminded him. "The missions we take on are way more dangerous than back then."
"True," Levi muttered. "But even as kids, we were strong. Guess some things just can't be helped." He sighed, a hint of worry in his voice. "I just hope things don't turn out bad for the kids of this generation."
Diablo looked out at the calm park. "The best we can do is hope for the best. But if things go south, I'll jump in"
Meanwhile, Kazuki lays in a hospital bed, staring at his palm. The white ceiling above him seemed distant.
"If it weren't for Alex… I'd be dead. That mad scientist guy was way too tough. He was toying with alex and I. He only took the fight seriously after alex got some kind of energy boost." he muttered to himself. He clenched his hand into a fist. "I'm going to become stronger. One day. I dont know how. But if i keep training, i know i will"
The door opened, and Serena stepped in carrying a food tray. She smiled softly. "You hungry?"
She pulled a chair beside his bed and sat down.
"I came to check on you. How are you feeling?"
Kazuki looked at her, his expression softening. "I'm okay. How's the dumbass"
Serena giggled. "Yoi mean alex? His wounds healed up fast. He's probably at home right now, playing video games or watching anime.". Kazuki replied "Typical idiot."
She reached into the tray and pulled out an apple. "Open up," she said cheerfully, holding it toward him with a playful grin. Kazuki had a nervous smile on his face "What the....? Is she..". He looked at the soft smile serena had on her face. Kazuki couldn't help but to feel abit annoyed and happy at the same time "Whatever " he opened his mouth and took a bite of the apple.
On top of a grassy hill overlooking the city, Alex sat with a sandwich in hand, eating while enjoying the view. He sighed in relief.
"I'm glad there aren't going to be any missions for the next few months. Kojin said that the next crazy missions would be handled by other soliders and assassins for now. Gives me lots of time to train and goof off."
"Is there anything else you know how to do besides eating?" a voice asked.
Alex turned and saw Kinto sitting beside him.
Alex laughed. "It can't be helped."
Kinto smiled. "I'm glad Kojin gave us a break."
"I seriously thought I was going to die," Alex said.
"Same," Kinto replied with a nod. "Let's try our best so we don't."
They shared a fist bump.
After a brief moment, Alex turned to Kinto. "Hey, can I ask you something?"
"Go ahead." Kinto replied.
"…Have you ever wondered what boobs feel like?"
Kinto blinked, a confused expression crossing his face. He paused for a few seconds before snapping back to reality.
"…Honestly? Yeah. I've always wondered."
Alex and kinto shared a laugh."I hope I get a girlfriend when I'm older."
Kinto smirked. "I'd want a girl with big boobs. Not too big, though."
Alex nodded. "As long as she's pretty and has the package… she's good to go."
They were silent for a second, then burst into laughter. Kinto, still laughing, said, "God help our souls. We're just 12 year older and we're talking about fantasies"
Alex smiled at that. "I know, right. Man I'm so glad we're friends"
"You up for another meal?" Alex asked suddenly.
Kinto looked shocked. "Didn't you just eat two burgers and a bucket of chicken?"
Alex stood up, grinning. "So?"
Kinto sighed as Alex jumped off the hill. "This guy's something else…"
A few hours later, after finishing their meal together, Alex and Kinto walked out of the restaurant.
"I've got something else to do," Kinto said, waving. "I'll see you later."
"Yeah. See you around," Alex replied, waving back.
As Kinto walked off, Alex stretched and looked around. "Now what am I gonna do all day…?"
Just as he started walking, he bumped into someone. "Ah, sorry about that—" he said quickly, reaching out to help.
As he looked closer, he realized who it was.
"…Raquel?"
