"Well, and that's about it!"
"So… Because I told you that under no circumstances can you kill someone else besides Jack because it might turn inevitable for him, you made Jessica kill herself and went through all that extra trouble just to follow my rule, yet did not find it necessary to clean up any of that and now we have some sort of law enforcement here?"
"Mhm!"
Yamato just face palmed at that, though he was unsure if he was mad or relieved. It did seem like that solver most of their problems, so long as whoever came to inspect this blood bath would be unable to connect anything to them.
"…Say, when you asked yourself what I would do, and you came up with this, did you also ask yourself how I would react to this?"
"With a kiss…?"
"No."
"Awww… Then probably with a mix of praise and scolding, as my actions were both beneficial and careless but more on the praise side since it ended ip working out in the end!"
"That's… Actually exactly right. So you did think about it."
"I know you very well~ No one knows you better than me!"
"It would seem so... I guess it would be unfair to punish you for something that worked out exactly as intended. But I won't reward you either."
"That seems fair. I am already rewarded enough by your presence alone!"
Yuki leaned against Yamato's shoulder, feeling content with having him all to herself now that she got rid of both her rival and the only witnesses to their crime. Everything was just perfect now.
Suddenly, a voice was audible in every room of the school and throughout the campus.
"Attention please, to all students and teachers. There will be no school until further notice due to an incident. Please contact me in my office or the guards which will stay on campus indefinitely if you see anything suspicious or out of place. Any and all students or personnel are required to inform a teacher or guard if they which to leave school grounds, leaving without permission can result in expulsion or other severe consequences. Besides that, please feel free to study on your own, as even though there will be no more competitive exams this year, there will be at least one field trip exam which each class has to attend. Prepare yourself for what may come and stay on alert until further instructions."
Yuki, who did not seem bothered by that at all and seemed to doze off as she clung to Yamato, who was not as unbothered as she was.
"I think it's safe to assume that this is their reaction to your actions… Though I find it interesting that they result to a lockdown.. It means they think it could be a homocide."
"Mhm… Don't worry, Master, I'm sure they have to do that. I made sure it looked like a suicide after murder… You're so warm and huggable, Master!"
"How did you do that? You said you came right back here after cleaning the blood from my room and preparing the rest of the stuff for Jessica."
"Well, initially, I was. I was all cuddled up and you wouldn't even let go of me in your sleep!"
"…Right."
"It's true! But that's besides the point. After I remembered that it would be careless to just hope she would do as I planned, I thought about what you would do again! So I went back to make sure everything went as planned, which it did. I stabbed him in an emotional way too, so it would make sense to assume that it happened in the heat of the moment. She also still had the knife in her hand, and I of course removed the smiley on the mirror as it would not make sense for her to do that, and it's only purpose was a more horrific effect for Jessica. The only thing missing would be a suicide note, but I thought someone who stabs another in the heat of the moment and then kill's themselves would do so in a moment of distress, making a suicide note optional."
It sounded like she thought of it all. Yet, Yamato felt as though she missed something. If it was a so obviously a suicide to the outside world, why all this comotion? Maybe the school was trying to preserve it's image, but the announcement from earlier was not exact low profile. Though it was still a horrific scene from what Yuki described, and maybe they did really just have to think of it as a homocide at first as procedure or something. It was hard to get information about how they work in this world, so there was no way to tell for certain without asking them directly, which obviously was not a good idea.
"What about the knife cut on his shoulder that was poisoned?"
"…Uh…"
"You used a different knife for that, and there might be a way to extract information about it from his blood."
"No, the poison dissolves after 8 hours, but the person stays unconscious for 16! Pretty neat, right? Did I mention it is a creation of myself~?"
"What about the entry wound? It would be different from the one created by the kitchen knife."
"I don't think they have to technology to analyze it that precisely, Master… You're thinking too much modern world like. I also doubt that will look at every single stab, there are at least twenty or so all over his body."
"Maybe I am overthinking it…"
"How about we just walk around to get your mind at ease!"
"I suppose we can… They did say we won't have school for a while, thanks to you."
"Well, you're welcome! We should go ask for permission to leave school grounds so we can eat somewhere fancy!"
"Why do you want to go somewhere fancy?"
"Because it feel more romantic!"
"I'm inclined to disagree, but we can do it anyway if that's what you want. Do you have money from Elara again, or how do you plan to fund that?"
"I did! She's way richer than I originally thought, she just gave me whatever she found lying around because she was so grateful for being able to use my tactics at the competitive exam, which was like enough to buy a house I think!"
"…How did you become friends again?"
"Girl stuff. You wouldn't understand."
"I'm confident in my ability to understand anything, but alright… Let's go inform someone of our leaving."
"Date time!"
And so they left to inform whoever was closest of their exit from school grounds, which was permitted as the guard saw how excited she was. He found it hard to believe that someone so innocent looking could have anything to do with why he was here, and he could never forgive himself if it ruined what he saw as "young love". Yamato was forced to play along.
Now outside the school gates, Yuki pondered about where to go. Since this was a very big city, there were many places one would call "fancy". Eventually, Yuki chose a classical restaurant in the center of the city. Though there were many people around, inside was less noisy and the other guests were clearly in the upper class. Upon entering, they were immediately guided to a table near a window. They did not need to introduce themselves, nor have a reservation. This was because there school uniforms were enough, as they alone are a symbol of status and prosperity. So much so that no one even looked weird at them when they entered, even though they were teenagers. Or at least looked like teenagers in Yuki's case.
As they sat down, they were each given a card to order from which had a wide range of dishes with names Yamato could not make much meaning of. Probably names of animals combined with food, as often done in his old world as well, though he had no specific examples. He and Yuki ordered the same, after a recommendation from the waiter and then waited for their food. Yuki looked at the lit candle between them, which was only lit for romantic effects and not because it was already dark outside, because it was the middle of the day. The flame reflected in her clear blue eyes as she spoke.
"I'm glad things turned out this way… We don't get the chance to go out often!"
"We have lots of opportunities to do this, there are just other priorities most of the time."
"Same thing!"
"If it is that important to you, we can come here regularly from now on."
"Really? You promise?"
"Sure, I promise. You earned it, after all."
She grinned flirtatiously and crossed her fingers under her chin.
"Oh~? I thought you said you wouldn't punish nor reward me for it."
"Well, maybe I changed my mind."
"Mhmm~"
"What?"
"Nothing~ I love you!"
"If you keep on saying that all the time, it will lose meaning, y'know?"
"That is a common misconception. Though partly true, when humans get used to something, it is not that they don't appreciate it. It is only that they get comfortable with it. You realize this when you take away what they got used to, and see how they will become uncomfortable. If they wouldn't appreciate it, they wouldn't mind if it went away either."
"What an interesting perspective. You are full of surprises…"
"I am all for you~"
When there food came, Yuki fed him from her's as much as she could, and demanded to he fed in return. Yamato wondered if there was anything special about his food, that made her want it so much, to which she only responded with it being his, which made it desirable. Though Yamato missed the point in that sentimentality as it was only brought to him, but actually the restaurants. If it were made by him, he would have understood it better, but he chose not to worry about it, and just accept it the was it was. Yuki had worked hard for this day, after all.
