Chapter 23 - Twenty Three

Chapter Twenty Three

Lucianna's POV

I don't know if its from exhaustion or Jacob's warmth are just too comfortable that I fell asleep.

Almost stumbling off the bed, I opened my eyes and looked to my side where I felt Jacob's breath on my cheeks.

He's dead asleep.

He was right when he said he's too exhausted. Well, from all those sleepless nights for fucking his whores, of course.

I scoffed silently.

Jacob's hand was rested on my stomach. I took my time to look at his face.

He really is handsome…

Those thick, manly shape brows and long lashes of him was what I'm envious of. No wonder the way he gaze at me always makes my heart flutter.

It feels good. He feels good beside me.

If only he didn't…

Sigh.

There's nothing to hope now, nothing can be moved backwards. And every scene of his infidelity will be stuck in my head like a venom on blood.

Remembering it always makes my blood boil. Makes my mood sour, and the sight of him disgusts me.

Hm, I think the night was still early. Did I sleep for too long--

Oh, shit! Dylan!

I bit my lip and my eyes widened from remembering my previous plan! Damn! Being with Jacob this close was now considered a bad thing, I should take note of it!

Slowly, I took his arm off me and that task was easy because it seems loosen. I slid off the bed and tiptoed walked out of the room with my phone in my hand.

Shit! What time is it?

It's 12:30am! Shucks! I hope Dylan was still awake!

I typed on my phone and sent him a message. Calling him was not an option, I might wake Jacob up!

While waiting for his response, I decided to take the backdoor and walked out from there since it's farther to Jacob's room.

I can't risk waking him up or else I might be punished!

My phone vibrated and so I look at it while walking towards the forest, still tiptoeing.

Dylan: I thought you're all drool and dreams. I'll head to the place now?

Me: Yes, please! I'm sorry, I fell asleep.

He didn't replied after so I guess he must be on the run. The main of Trivian pack was way too far from the hill, I hope he gets on time and safe.

I decided to run there, as well. Using my inhuman speed.

Shit. Guards!

I halted and faced the guards who was waiting for me to come nearer. Oh, I don't need to be nervous, right? My scent was of Shadow pack now so they won't think I'm trespassing or anything.

"Where are you going, Miss?" one of the guard asked. There are two of them and the other was a little far but when he saw us, he walked closer.

I smiled and tried my best to act natural.

"I'm just off to visit the top of that hill." I said and pointed where I said.

He looked back to the hill and then to me. "That place is not safe--"

"Hey, buddy." the other guard said and whispered something to the guard I'm talking to. "That's Alpha Jacob's mate." his whisper reached my ears.

"Oh, how come I--"

"It's something confidential."

Of course it is. Jacob was ashamed of me because I'm weak, according to him.

I scoffed and cleared my throat so I can get their attention.

"Um, may I know how you knew who I am?" I said with a sweet smile. The second guard blushed a little.

"I-I was one of the servant of the Ball t-that day…" he said and scratch his head before looking away.

What's this guy flushing about? I just asked a question, didn't I?

"Well, let us accompany you, Luna." the first guard offered.

My breath hitched for a moment but I quickly shook my head. "No! I-I mean, I want to be there alone. You know, think and unwind--"

"I insist, my Luna. Its late at night and rogues might--"

I didn't hear the rest of his words because my mind was already flying elsewhere! I can't let them ruin my plans, I can't stop now! I need to talk with Dy!

"Sir, I appreciate your concern but I would like to be alone." I said with a serious face, trying to prove a point.

Both of the guards straighten their back as if I commanded something.

"W-Well… Please be careful, my Luna." both of them said.

I nodded calmly and smiled again before walking past them.

I run up to the hill and the cold breeze of the wind was the first thing that welcomed me. This place is really a good spot…

After a few minutes, I saw Dylan down the hill, approaching closer to the other side.

He stopped and looked at me, still standing at the bottom of the hill.

"Come up here." I said in a normal voice. He can hear me even if I don't shout or anything.

"Its forbidden to enter another territory, Luce." he said and grinned. I'm enhancing my senses right now and he was too.

I scoffed and started walking down the hill.

"Hm, that's trespassing." Dylan said with a playful grin.

I rolled my eyes at him as I continue coming near him.

"I'm with the mighty Beta of Trivian pack, you think I'll be scared?"

Dylan chuckled and shook his head.

"I really liked that feisty side of you." he grins.

"Don't make me fight you here to prove I'm more than just feisty. Anyway, let's cut the chase. I need your help."

Dylan's eyes sparkled before his grin turned into a pursed lips. I rolled my eyes again.

Now that Dylan confessed that he likes me, I kept on giving meaning to his every move. And I can say he was being a flirt right now!

"Dylan! I'm serious!"

He laughed and scratched his nape. "Well, I'm at your service." then he took off his smiling face. "Don't tell me you're in trouble?"

I rolled my eyes again and went to a nearby huge rock so I could sit. Dylan followed and sat beside me. We are facing the Hill as we made ourselves comfortable.

"More like a mess. But yeah, trouble too." I cleared my throat and looked at his eyes. "Let's talk about the game first,"

"Well, I already signed you up. Still not pregnant by now?" he sounds teasing.

I blushed from the thought that popped in my head from what he said. Jacob and I did not even completed the mating! Ugh!

"Dylan!" I said in a warning voice.

He laughed.

"Well, the contest is scheduled this week. Three days from now. As usual, it will be held during sunset. There's new faces, too, maybe someone will finally beat you."

I slapped his back hard and he only laughed.

"Scaring me is a foul."

"Like you'll be moved by that." he laughed again and I rolled my eyes. Looking far at nothingness.

Dylan was always the care-free, easy and funny guy I've met. That was also why I found him trustworthy and friendly even if he was the beta of the third strongest pack of the North.

"Won't you ask about the prize?"

I shook my head. All I want now was to unwind, to fight and let some steam off. Winning was a bonus, of course. It's boosting my confidence and happy thoughts.

I badly need that right now.

"Whoa. That's new. I can still remember how you complained about that one game that the prize is not money." he laughed.

I flushed from what he said.

Well, I live alone. I was in need of money back then and that's what made me won all those time. Money.

"Whatever. I just want to try if I'm not being rusty."

"Not training for a while?"

I shook my head.

"Well, you should. I told you, there's new participants this season."

"I don't care, Dylan." I respond, uninterested.

He shrugged. "So what is it that you wanted help with?"

I sighed loudly.

"I need you to help me escape." I grinned. Dylan's jaw dropped and before he could say anything, I spoke again. "I mean, I will attend the contest and then you need to have me as your guest for a while."

"Whoa there." he gulped. "So what you really aimed is somewhere to hide?"

"Exactly!"

"That's not escaping, tss."

I rolled my eyes and did not correct him about it. For me, its an escape.

"Aren't you mated?"

"I'm at Shadow pack now, right?" I said in a matter-of-fact voice.

"Then why are you trying to hide? You're mated, your mate will look for you."

I shrugged.

"Don't tell me you two are not into good terms?"

"Something like that."

He squinted his eyes at me so I look away.

"Lucianna, don't make stories. Your mate was probably hell-bent in-love with you. And you too, right? No one can battle with the mate bond and win."

I sighed. I forgot that he didn't know that my 'mate' has a full self-control. Tsk.

"Unless you're mated with an Alpha…" he mumbled, in a daze.

I did not speak a word. I pursed my lips and looked anywhere but his eyes.

I heard Dylan gasped and snapped his head to look at me.

"Don't tell me--"

My eyes caught a familiar silhouette standing at the top of the hill. I need not to enhance my senses, that built, that aura, this scent…

Jacob was standing atop of the hill, looking down to us. He was not moving, but the way his chest moves, I know how he feels by now.

"Fuck," Dylan cursed silently, probably completed the puzzles in his mind. He jumped off the rock to bend one of his knee to the ground, bowing his head.

I can't take my eyes off that flaming red pair of eye. I don't know if I feel scared or nervous or…both.

"Alpha Jacob." Dylan greeted with honor to my mate.
