Chapter 3 - Cleaning and Date

"You are alive?" Theo knelt down and gave David a hand to help him up.

"No, I am not. You..." David left the curse out as Theo helped him up. Looking at the blood, which was now on the ground, David realized that Theo must have thought that he died.

David turned to Theo apologetically. "I am sorry for all this happening. I wasn't in the right mind when shooting with your revolver at my face."

'I really wasn't. That David Emerick Smith just shot at himself. If I were in his mind, I surely wouldn't have tried to commit suicide. I wonder... Nononono, don't make that mistake again. Now is neither the right time nor the right place for another blackout.'

But contrary to David's expectations Theo just gave him a hug and nodded. David was quite surprised to say the least. Then he decided not to think too much about that and just go with the flow. So, he hugged him back.

After some seconds they released the hug, and they sat down on the Donningsman chairs. Feeling the warmth in the room, David couldn't help but sign in comfort.

It had been quite cold outside, and the bloody stench was still a little stuck in his nose.

"So, how are you alive and where does that blood come from if it doesn't come from your head?" Theo asked curiously, while shifting his head a little to the side.

David thought about what to tell him, but since he himself doesn't really know it, he hoped maybe Theo knows something about it.

"Well, I have a thesis, but I am not sure if it is right, but it seems likely. Firstly, do you know about Beyonders?"

Theo looked thoughtfully upwards and then decided to answer.

"I've once heard my boss talking about them. He said they are basically superhumans with special powers. Their difference in power lies in their so-called Sequence ranging from 9 to 1. With 9 to 7 being Low-Sequence Beyonders, from 6 to 5 Mid-Sequence Beyonders and from 4 to 1 being High-Sequence Beyonders. How did you get in touch with them? You don't seem like the type of person who would actually do something that dangerous as becoming one of them."

David, now realizing that the friend of his old body was quite knowledgeable, got some more information regarding Beyonders that wasn't directly mentioned in the memory from his old body. When Theo talks about his boss, he normally means the leader of the local gang, he is in, but the old David and Theo never really speak about the gang, because it is quite uncomfortable for Theo to talk about.

'It seems like that memory-recalling isn't that accurate or that the memories of the last owner were just incomplete. So, it isn't totally reliable.' David mused about that with a little smile on his face.

"I've accidentally made contact with a Beyonder Characteristic and therefore became one of them. My theory is that my Beyonder characteristic should give me slightly increased healing powers." David couldn't come up with a better explanation on the spot.

'Slightly better, you say. That was a head shot. That isn't slightly better, that is extremely better, but I don't really know enough about Beyonders to accurately judge that. Maybe I should ask my boss while not revealing David in the process. Though currently it is indeed the most logical explanation for it.' Theo thought sceptically of David's statement but decided to let it rest for the moment and focus on the more important things.

"You are going to clean up the mess, because you caused it. Now, stand up and get the mop." Theo smiled in schadenfreude.

(A/N: Schadenfreude means basically to have happiness, because of other people's pain or hard work.

"Aren't you curious what my Beyonder powers are?" David asked in visible surprise.

"Are your powers able to help you clean up the blood or what?" Theo made a cheeky smile while David grinded his time against each other. In the end, he gave up his try to get away from the work and just got the mop.

"The mop is in the kitchen's cabinet. There is also some soap, which you are allowed to use. Even though, it's new." Theo informed David as he walked in the direction of the exit of the house.

Theo giggled as he reminded himself that David is still as forgetting as ever. Even supernatural powers can't help this guy find the mop.

David just smiled and got the mop from the Donningsman cabinet in the kitchen.

"I'll start with the stairs while I jump on them as loud as possible. Can you accept such an outcome, Theodore?" David remembered what he got from the memories of the last David and found out that Theo absolutely detested these stairs, because of the creaking sounds.

"Oh no, please spare me the stairs. I can do these with the other mop. You do the upper floor." Theo called back and also stood up.

After two hours of work, they managed to clean up the bloody pond and put the blood into the trash.

"Is it really okay to put the blood into the trash?" David asked mildly curious.

"There shouldn't be any problem with that. At least I hope so. By the way, we haven't slept the entire night. Even Beyonders need sleep from time to time. I'll also go to bed." Theo made his way to their individual bedrooms.

"Sounds good, even though I don't think we are going to get much sleep as it is almost five hours after midnight."

Theo just nodded tiredly and went into his room. Contrary, David wasn't really tired. Whether that was because of his Beyonder powers or other factors like blood loss wasn't known to him.

"I have forgotten to ask which date is today, but I guess that can also wait until tomorrow." Unbeknownst to him that triggered something in his mind and more information appeared in his thought process followed by a small pain in the head.

It is the 7th June of the year 1349.
